The athletes of the Lithuanian sports club “Makabi” completed their performance in the 21st<\/sup> World Maccabiah Games in Israel, which took place on July 12-26. 10,000 athletes from more than 60 countries participated in this sports event.<\/p>\n

The team consisted of 17 athletes representing 8 sports. It was the 9th<\/sup> Maccabiah for Lithuania.<\/p>\n

“Makabi” athletes won 6 medals, and this is one of the most successful performances in the entire history of the restored “Makabi”: Gerda \u0160i\u0161anovait\u0117 won gold, Ignas \u0160i\u0161anovas won silver in table tennis singles, Michailas Trusovas won silver in 50-meter freestyle swimming, 13-year-old chess player Daniel \u0160er won silver in the 16-18-year-old youth group, Alanas Plavinas won bronze in badminton singles, Markas \u0160amesas and Danielius Tarachovkis won bronze in badminton doubles.<\/p>\n

Another 7 medals were won together with international teams: 3 silver medals in fencing, swimming and table tennis, and 4 bronze medals in badminton and table tennis.<\/p>\n
