{"id":3158,"date":"2023-01-27T14:55:20","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T12:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gvf.lt\/en\/?p=3158"},"modified":"2023-01-27T14:56:20","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T12:56:20","slug":"new-books-presented-with-an-unexpected-approach-to-jewish-lithuanian-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gvf.lt\/en\/2023\/01\/27\/new-books-presented-with-an-unexpected-approach-to-jewish-lithuanian-relations\/","title":{"rendered":"New Books presented with an unexpected Approach to Jewish-Lithuanian Relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was symbolically started by the Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) community with a meaningful presentation of two new books that talk about the relations between Jews and Lithuanians during various historical periods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two books were presented at the premises of the Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) Community: &#8220;The Case of Texts: Lithuanian anti-Semitic Discourse from the second half of the 19th century to 1940&#8221; by Ph.D. of VMU Linas Venclauskas, and &#8220;Jews in Lithuanian Literature&#8221; by a culturist, essayist, publicist Vytautas Toleikis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both books were partially financed by the Good Will Foundation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the beginning of the event, a moment of silence was taken in honor of the victims of the Holocaust.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A special mood was created by Dalia D\u0117dinskait\u0117, one of the brightest violinists of her generation in the Baltic States, a graduate of the Vienna University of Music and Fine Arts, winner of international competitions, and by one of the brightest Lithuanian pianists Darius Ma\u017eintas, a winner of numerous international competitions. The musicians performed a very symbolic program &#8211; &#8220;Hebrew Melody&#8221; by Joseph Achron, a litvak, violinist and composer, and &#8220;Kol Nidrei&#8221; by Max Bruch.
