Students studying at the Mechinat Ein Prat Yeshiva of Jerusalem came to the Jewish community of Panev\u0117\u017eys with their leader, Rabbi Avi Poupo. 75 young people came to participate in European Jewish Culture Days, to learn more about the history of Panev\u0117\u017eys and Lithuanian Jews.<\/p>\n

The city of Panev\u0117\u017eys is also celebrating its 520th anniversary, students were welcomed at the Panev\u0117\u017eys Yeshiva. Students were interested in the tragic history of the Holocaust in Panev\u0117\u017eys and Lithuania. Gennady Kofman, the chair of Panev\u0117\u017eys Jewish community, shared the information collected in the archives of the community. The students walked around the city and learned that all the events were dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the Vilnius ghetto. The guests also visited the old Jewish cemetery in Panev\u0117\u017eys.<\/p>\n

The premises of the Panev\u0117\u017eys Jewish community were filled with student laughter and Jewish songs, the guests feasted and promised to return next year.<\/p>\n
