Tuesday evening discussion “Pluralist narratives in Lithuania today and yesterday” took place in University of Illinois at Chicago. Participants of the discussion – professor Tomas Venclova, LR Ministry of Culture Mindauas Kvietkauskas, Good Will Foundation Board Chair Faina Kukliansky, YIVO director Jonathan Brent, the moderator of the event – Polish literature and Polish-Jewish studies lecturer Karen Underhill – spoke about intersections of multiculturalism in Lithuania, how various ethnic minorities changed and created Lithuanian state, discussed the contribution into cultural, political life of the country of one of the ethnic minorities – Litvaks, also, the commemoration of Holocaust and historical memory. Consulate General Mantvydas Bekešius thanked for prof. T. Venclova for the verses he read, for cultural attaché in New York Gražina Michnevičiūtė for help in organizing the visit of Minister, for the participants of the discussion for original thoughts and suggestions, and all who participated for active participation, open and interesting questions.
