Another painful date is approaching – the period of Jewish genocide in Lithuania started 80 years ago. Approximately 95 percent of Jewish population in Lithuania was killed during the Holocaust. January 27th marks the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and this year, 2021, marks the 76th anniversary of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp liberation.
Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) Community invites everyone to join a world-wide campaign #WeRemember
Let’s pay attention to our young generation by educating them about the remembrance of the Holocaust, let’s organize virtual meetings with the oldest members of our community who still remembers the cruel history and will not let us forget it.
Also, we invite you to participate in the campaign #MesPrisimename80 / #WeRemember80 by visiting Holocaust places with your family members and taking pictures while holding the paper with text.
Please, send photos till January 23 at the latest to email projects@lzb.lt
Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) Community will share these photos on social media on January 26th, the day before the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
