On March 9, Faina Kukliansky, Chairwoman of the Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) Community, participated in the presentation of the project and photo competition “Jews in Samogitia” in the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
This photo competition is one of the events of the project “Shalom, Akmene!” co-financed by the Good Will Foundation and dedicated to fostering Jewish cultural heritage and traditions in Akmenė region. The photos capture portraits of people and moments from Jewish heritage, Holocaust remembrance events.
This collection of photographs reveals the history of Jews in Lithuania, and rather its remains. The moments captured in the photographs encourage us to learn about the historical experiences of the many Jewish communities that once lived here in the neighborhood.
