On March 25th and 26th, 29 Lithuanian teachers and 2 Ukrainian teachers who found refuge in Vilnius came together in Vilnius for the seminar “Teaching 20th Century Jewish History and the Holocaust”. During the seminar, which was supported by the Claims Conference (Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany), U.S. Embassy in Vilnius and European Commission, participants attended historical lectures and hands-on presentations by veteran teachers. They visited the Vilna Gaon House Holocaust Museum in Vilnius, and developed lesson plans using Centropa’s materials on how to teach Lithuania’s Jewish history and the Holocaust.
Organizers used the occasion to officially launch the Centropa Vilnius AudioWalk (audiowalks.centropa.org), which takes visitors to the main sites of Vilnius’ rich Jewish history. The Centropa AudioWalk was supported by the Good Will Foundation.
We encourage you to use the AudioWalk to explore the city with help of this guide.
