Purim and International Women’s Day are celebrated in the first month of spring. The men of Panevėžys Jewish community and distinguished guests gathered in the premises of the community to honor the women. It just so happened that this year we celebrated Purim and International Women’s Day together.
Purim is the most joyful Jewish holiday, which symbolizes the victory, the salvation of the Jewish people in Persia according to the story of Magilat Esther, which was read by the chairman of the community, Gennady Kofman. Also, at the festively prepared table, the chairman of the community read the congratulatory words from Faina Kukliansky, a chairwoman of the Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) community, and others, and presented the women with flowers on the occasion of March 8th. At the festively prepared table, toasts were raised, wishes were said, and flowers were presented to our wonderful women. Everyone had a good time filled with songs, laughter and gifts for children.
