On behalf of the Sugihara Foundation we invite you to visit the opening of two exhibitions “Gerumo kristalas” (“The Crystal of Kindness”) and “Pasai” (“Passports”) on September 30, 6.30 PM at the Sugihara House Museum, Vaižganto Street 30, Kaunas.
The exhibition “The Crystal of Kindness” tells about a multiple, contradictory and unfinished history. Its center is a postcard addressed on March 19, 1941 to Vytautas Žakavičius, Righteous Among the Nations, who, together with his fellows Bronius Jacevičius and Jonas Petrauskas, were shot at Kaunas IX Fort for hiding Jews in July 1944.
The exhibition “Pasai” (“Passports”) tells about the role of the emigration government of the Republic of Poland and the Polish underground state in informing the world about the Holocaust and the rescue of Jews in the German-occupied territories.
During the opening of the exhibitions, a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Arts prof. Alexander B. Skotnicki will also present his book “Chiune Sugihara. The consul who saved the Jews”.
The event will be held in both English and Lithuanian.
During the event, please comply with the requirements of the pandemic.
The project was partially financed by the Good Will Foundation.
