In July, the Panevėžys Jewish community was visited by a guest from Toronto – Jerold Landau, who works at IBM, a historian, and a translator from Hebrew and Yiddish to English.

J. Landau graduated from the Yeshiva of Toronto and considers himself an Orthodox Jew.

He came to Panevėžys to get to know the Lithuanian Jews and their history in Lithuania.

Speaking about his biography, he said that his great-grandparents and relatives lived in Zhytomyr (Ukraine). Grandma was the only one who managed to survive the Holocaust. Both of her sisters were killed in Rovno, Ukraine.

The guest got acquainted with the activities of the Jewish community of Panevėžys, visited the historical places of Panevėžys Jews and left warm wishes in the guest book of community.
